| I am kinda wierd in the fact that I am constantly looking for ways to broaden my horizons. To that end sometimes when I see something that seems impressively base and inane I will read it just to better understand a side of people that completely eludes me. The most recent addition was and MSN.com article "Ladies, are you dateless?" The advise went as follows: 1) Play hard to get. 2) Work towards a long term relationship, but don't let him know that is what you want. 3) Remain suspicious at all times. The guy just wants to bang you, but you can chang him. Just manipulate constantly. The conclusion states, "Bottom line: You’re a smart, attractive girl who knows what she wants...." The problem is this. This article is meant for the average woman so most likely, she is not smart, or attractive, or fully aware of what she wants, and certainly not all three. Why cant people be realistic with themselves? Just say, "I'm not dumb. I'm plenty doable. And I have a basic idea of a few things that I want." | | |
| Using bombers to fight terrorism is like putting a string bikini on a fat woman. It is taking a great tool and using it in the wrong context. This is the thought that made the 65 year old 5 foot 6, 200 pound woman in a inappropriately small gstring bearable. | | |
| This one is better written.
I strongly reccommend the movie, "An Inconvenient Truth." I watched it last night. I have for almost a decade been getting more and more worried about this issue. I didn't realize how long people have known global warming was a problem. It makes me wonder, how obvious must the changes be before people will connect the dots and start trying to do something about it. I consider this as one of the, if not the, most important issue of our time. The question is not whether we are causing a problem. It is how big a problem we are making. I will quote a BBC article about scientists predictions about what will happen if we continue to increase greenhouse gas emmissions at our current rate for fifty more years. "Predictions Vary from Cataclysmic to Catastrophic." That is the type of controversy in the climatalogical community over global warming. But we can make a differance. We have slowly reversed the growth of the hole in the ozone layer. We can do the same with this problem. Sorry to get preachy. But with the record breaking heat waves, the record breaking storms, the beginnings of media attention, etc. This is the first time that our society has seemed ready to hear this. And I want to jump on the opportunity. Thank you for reading my rant. | | |
